Make a cutting plan before buying

A one-page note keeps finished size, cut size, orientation and purchase length connected.

Record the object

Write panel count and finished dimensions for each. Next to them, note edge treatments, cut dimensions and grain or print direction. Group different panel sizes separately. Do not save only a total fabric length without the calculation behind it.

Record the material

Enter actual fabric width, width reserved at the edges and usable width. Note whether the material has been prepared as its care label allows and whether the print repeats. Include a date and specification source so the figures can be reviewed when fabric choice changes.

Review the buying figure

Use the panel tool for a simple layout and the edging tool for perimeter. Extra length is a user decision that needs a written reason. Check roll size, availability and the shop's cutting rules before purchase; a calculator cannot promise stock or pattern fit.
